A Complex Challenge

“When these hospitals were built 40 plus years ago, everything was all about convenience. I mean, not that you didn’t have horrific events that happen, but it really wasn’t at the forefront. I don’t think designers and architects really thought about people walking in with AR-15s,” says Kevin Mahan, Vice President of Security at Community Health Network.
The Solution
Understanding that every solution on the market is different and not every system will work in every environment, Community Health Network undertook a 30-day pilot program to test Xtract One’s SmartGateway at one of their facilities. SmartGateway delivers fast, reliable, and accurate patron screening replacing intimidating walk-through metal detectors. The solution unobtrusively scans patrons for guns, knives, and other prohibited items as they enter a facility, using AI-powered sensors to detect threats without invading a patron’s sense of privacy and comfort. This approach sets a new standard for how healthcare facilities can protect their communities while maintaining a positive experience for all.
